Born in Newark New Jersey, Genevi discovered his love for storytelling at the age of 10. By the time he was thirteen, he was designing notebook comics, and writing short stories and showing them off in school. After graduating High School, Genevi enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. There he independently published his first book Zheroes. It was also while there he began writing screenplays.

Today he lives in Chicago.
